The Club at ArrowCreek Continues to Add Talent to Food and Beverage Department
The Club at ArrowCreek has hired a new chef de cuisine, executive sous chef, and beverage manager/certified sommelier. Under the direction of Chef Leon Teow, The Club’s director of culinary operations, the food and beverage team will help guide the private golf course and country club as it continues to undergo a $50 million renovation project that includes a transformation of Club’s full-service clubhouse, multiple new dining options and a new meeting and event space, available to rent by the public.
Heading up the kitchen of The Club’s new signature restaurant will be chef de cuisine, Leonardo Velez. Born and raised in New Jersey, Velez found a love for Italian cooking at a young age. After culinary school, he would put that love to good use at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel where he would bring the Mama Della Ristorante from a top 100 spot to a top 10. Over the years Velez mentored more than 100 cooks that were in the J-1 Culinary Training Program, a cultural exchange program by the U.S. Department of State, which gives students, recent graduates and young professionals from around the world the opportunity to come to the U.S. and share their culture and ideas while receiving in-depth culinary training in the country’s best hotels and resorts. Velez brings his more than 30 years’ experience excelling in Italian cuisine to The Club.
Another transplant coming from Orlando is executive sous chef Peter Kunstek. Prior to joining The Club at ArrowCreek, Kunstek served as the banquet chef at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel where he oversaw all weddings, corporate and VIP functions and events. Prior to that, he led the Garde Manger department for two years. Kunstek is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Minneapolis/St. Paul.
Sacramento native Travis Masten joins the team as beverage manager and certified sommelier. Masten and has worked in hotels, restaurants and resorts in the region including the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe and Charlie Palmer Collective in Napa Valley in addition to a five-year stint at the Wailea Golf Resort in Maui. He obtained his Certified Sommelier Certification in March 2006 from The Court of Master Sommeliers and recently passed the WSET Level 3 Award in Wine at The Napa Valley Wine Academy.
The Club is currently hiring for multiple positions including seasonal, part-time and full-time positions in golf, food and beverage, aquatics and maintenance. Referral and retention bonuses are being offered. Those interested can learn more and apply at Indeed.com.
