What is the Best Time of the Day for Your Wedding Photos?
No matter what style of Reno, NV wedding you’re planning, you know the photographs from the big day are going to be a major part of it. This is one of the most important days of your life and you want each special moment to be captured. Beyond the live-action shots of saying your “I dos” and your first dance, you also want plenty of stylized photos. This leads to the big question: is there a best time of the day for your wedding photos?
In short, the answer is yes. There definitely are certain times of day where the light is much more appealing for photos. It is true that there are several times during the day when the light is best for photos, as well as the worst times of day to have your photos taken. That’s not to say if the timing doesn’t line up correctly that your wedding photos will be ruined. Let’s begin by discussing the best time of day for your wedding photos
The Golden Hour
The best time to have your special photos taken is the golden hour. This is the hour right after sunrise, or the hour before sunset. For wedding photos, we suggest the latter, unless you like getting hair and make-up at 4 am! The sun takes on a beautiful golden hue that makes your photographs look out of this world. It’s not just about having a lovely color to the sky.
Moreover, this is the time of day where there is the direction to the light, adding depth to the image. As the sunlight comes from the side, you are going to naturally get a gorgeous rim light on the side of your face, separating you from the background.
Other Options
Let’s say because of the timing of your wedding, golden hour simply isn’t an option. When the sun is directly overhead, closer to noon, you will get harsh shadows under your eyes. For most people, it is very unflattering. Don’t panic! Shade is your friend, and we have plenty of it here on our grounds.
Simply get into the shade under a tree or in a spot where the light is being blocked by a building. In the shade, you will have beautiful light accentuating your features. This is also the best way to stay cool in the Reno summer temperatures!
